Prior information notice
The ESS neutron source is cooled by helium in gaseous form. The neutron source is rotating by a double pipe shaft, distributing the helium inlet and outlet feed. Helium inlet temperature is between 20-55°C and outlet temperature 180-273°C. The shaft is coupled to the helium cooling system by a rotating unit, a swivel. The shaft nominal rotation speed is 23.5 rpm, the shaft dimension is 246 mm and the rotating unit shall provide a helium mass flow of 3 kg/s, 10 bar pressure and maximum external leakage of 1.5 normal l/h.
The rotating unit is the component included in this procurement. It will include detail design, manufacturing and testing to verify the requirements..
