[539] Radial Collimator

Prior information notice

According to this notice the expected publication date of the contract documents (note that this could change) is 2025-06-23

Supply and service agreement for detailed design, fabrication, verification, transport and installation of the radial collimator. The radial collimator shall be installed on a support structure that will also be used as a lift. The radial collimator shall be installed in front of the detectors with a coverage of approximately 165°. The radial collimator shall oscillate during operation and that should be integrated in the design. The support & lift structure will be included in this tender as an option, but the final design of the radial collimator shall not prevent future integration with the support & lift structure. Design requirements; The radial collimator shall have a coverage of approximately 165° with a an oscillation of +/- 2 mm. Alignment specification (x, y, z) < 1 mm. Rotational specification of 0.22°. Low resolution (1°) collimator with the following dimensions; Inner radius: 545 mm Length: 790 mm Sample position to detector: Fixed at 800 mm Collimator entrance dimension: 9.5 mm Collimator exit dimension: 13.9 mm The radial collimator and the oscillation system must comply with the collimator support structure (interface description delivered by ESS) Handling & Maintenance features All materials shall be non-magnetic. Foil coating; Gd Oxide or Boron-10 Carbide Optional addons; Detailed design, fabrication, verification, transport and installation of the “Collimator Support & Lift” The “Collimator Support & Lift” shall be a motorized lift that shall be used to support and position the radial collimator at a specific height The height is approximately 2 meters from ground level. The specification and the conceptual design of the “Collimator Support & Lift” is not yet defined. Expected delivery: June 2026
